Description
The Turkana tribe is a nomadic pastoralist people that inhabit the Turkana district in Kenya’s Rift Valley Province. This is a Old Carved wooden Container that was used by the Turkana elders of Kenya for carrying snuff. Such objects were made for personal use as a container to snuff tobacco or medicines to heal headaches from high blood pressure or head colds and many other diseases. A Snuffbox can be made out of a combination of various materials: wood,ivory, leather, and beads. This tube is made out of ivory, It is a unique part of the male culture of the Turkana and shows use and age.
